CapTel Outreach Coordinator
Department: Maryland Relay
Reports to: National Outreach Manager
Position summary: Position is responsible for providing and gathering
information, which will help, improve the quality of the CapTel(r)
service and the number of customers served by Maryland Relay. Individual
will devote 100% of their time to Maryland Relay specific business and
will be required to travel throughout the state of Maryland as needed.
Essential functions:
* Executes the outreach activities of Maryland Relay related with
CapTel services.
* Knowledge of and ability to understand various communication modes
used by potential CapTel users.
* Individual must be co-located with the Maryland Relay Program
Manager (Baltimore) and will work closely with, and under the direction
of the Program Manager or designee to ensure accurate flow of
information between the Maryland Relay and the user communities.
* Individual shall provide work in coordination with the State TAM
Public Relations Coordinator for Maryland Relay to include, but not be
limited to, support of outreach and advertising. Individual will be
required to participate in advertising and outreach for up to
two-hundred (200) events per contract year as directed by the State PM.
The majority of the events will take place in the Baltimore/Washington
area, although the individual shall be prepared to support the contract
at any location in Maryland.
* Individual is required to attend weekly meetings at the TAM office
with the PR coordinator and must attend outreach events and conduct
Maryland Relay presentations which may require work outside of the
State's normal business hours.
* Communicates with relay users on new development and service
enhancements relating to CapTel.
* Designs, coordinates and conducts programs on how to access and use
the CapTel service all across the state of Maryland.
* Attends conventions, association meetings and other meetings as
assigned, which are open for attendance to the CapTel using community
across the state of Maryland.
* Designs and coordinates training programs in Maryland about CapTel
services for businesses, residents, and any other organizations. This
includes the development of general program outlines, materials, and
other similar information regarding Hamilton's relay service.
* Organizes and facilitates focus / user groups for discussion of the
CapTel services quality and effectiveness.
* Assesses focus / user group input and makes recommendations for
modifications and improvements based on that input. Gathers information
and conveys the relay users needs to Hamilton to assist them in the
development of new features for CapTel and overall improvement of the
relay services.
* Stays abreast of technological changes occurring in the CapTel and
relay industries in general.
* Conducts and evaluates effectiveness of outreach activities to the
end goal of increasing the number of CapTel usage minutes for the State
of Maryland.
* Executes marketing services and promotions designed to increase the
awareness and use of CapTel through Maryland Relay.
* Delivers presentations to prospective relay users using
presentation skills, visual aids, and written proposals.
* Provides input for the design of program materials such as videos,
brochures, etc.
* Plans and organizes effective meetings with an agenda, minutes and
appropriate follow up.
* Stresses quality in all work situations.
Other responsibilities:
* Performs other work related duties as assigned.
* Travels to current and potential customer locations.
Preferred education, experience and skills:
* Associate or Bachelor's Degree or comparable work experience along
with a minimum of three years public relations experience.
* Experience in public relations activities.
* Direct work experience with a Telecommunications Relay Service or
knowledge of CapTel preferred.
* Experience working with people who are hard of hearing or late
deafened, including familiarity with assistive listening devices and
CART.
* CapTel users are encouraged to apply.

* Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
* Hold a Maryland driver's license and ability to travel alone.
