New CuedSpeech.com website highlights information and products

February 2009

CuedSpeech.com welcomes all to explore its completely redesigned site at http://www.cuedspeech.com. The site is the online home of Cued Speech Discovery, the store of the National Cued Speech Association.

Visitors to the site will find more than 100 products plus news, links, a calendar of events, job postings, a down-loadable catalog and a forum for information and discussion.

The all-new forum "Cue Q&A" focuses on how to use Cued Speech in the most effective manner. In addition to responding to questions, professionals, parents and deaf cuers provide specifics for introducing and teaching Cued Speech.

"We are continually adding new materials to the forum and the website," states Pamela Beck, manager. "A free listing of fun teaching ideas for speech, language and Cued Speech are appropriate for children and their families is being expanded each month."

Cued Speech was created for use with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, yet speech-language pathologists, audiologists and educators have demonstrated its benefits for typical children and a wide variety of special needs individuals, including those with Down Syndrome, autism, apraxia, and auditory processing disabilities.

Cued Speech has been adapted to more than 60 languages. Literacy is the original and primary goal of Cued Speech, achieved by providing clear communication in the appropriate phonemic language base for learning to read. Cued Speech also supports the development of lipreading, auditory discrimination, and speech.

CuedSpeech.com and Cued Speech Discovery are dedicated to enabling individuals with hearing, language and speech needs to have complete communication experiences with family, friends and colleagues.
