Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
IDEA is a rework of the original Education for all Handicapped
Children Act. It provides that all children must be provided a free and
appropriate education. It also mandates that each disabled child must
have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that specifies how that
child will be educated.
Learn more about the IDEA on the Department of Education's IDEA
Home Page.
An IDEA training package is available at The
National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities.
The
Office of Special Education Programs and
Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) deals with issues relating to IDEA.
