ALDACON 2003

The 2003 ALDA convention in Las Vegas was another winner. I just can't describe the atmosphere of acceptance and caring at this great event. And karaoke night was even more nuts than usual, with Elvis leading the festivities. Oh, yeah, there were some great workshops, too, and lots of hugs and stories. Here's the official con site, and here's a collection of pictures that capture the flavor of this great event!

Here are reports on some of them.

There are several federally-funded labs at universities throughout the country that do research related to hearing loss. Several of the researchers typically attend the ALDA conventions to bring us up to date on their latest work. This year's workshop was entitled "Innovative Technology Applications to Enhance Rehabilitation Service and Outcomes"

Interested in a cochlear implant? The 2003 ALDAcon included presenters from each of the three major CI companies, who provided all the latest information on their products. Follow these links for the scoop!

You've probably been hearing a bit about remote CART. That's the term used to describe a situation in which a captioner provides captions without being physically present. Here's an article on remote CART workshop.
