Stäfa, Switzerland (January 10, 2007) - Hear the World, a global initiative by Phonak created to raise awareness about the importance of hearing, is launching an international magazine of the same name.

Utilizing a culture and lifestyle platform, the Hear the World magazine is dedicated to the topic of hearing. Features are inspired by a broad range of topics, from music, to art, to nature, and everything else that makes life more beautiful - always linked to the topic of hearing and sound. The magazine also introduces and informs readers about the global Hear the World initiative.

Launched in the fall of 2006, the Hear the World initiative aims to educate the public about the importance of good hearing, the social and emotional implications of hearing loss, and the available solutions for those with hearing impairment. The Hear the World magazine will further this effort by introducing the topic of hearing into everyday dialogue using compelling articles and imagery.

The magazine is targeted toward a well-educated, culturally sophisticated audience. The common thread is the sense of sound and the role it plays in day-to-day life.

The cover of the premiere edition of the magazine features tenor and conductor Plácido Domingo, who also wrote the issue's editorial. Mr. Plácido Domingo is a global ambassador for Hear the World. Recently he and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, another Hear the World ambassador, joined Phonak to launch the global Hear the World initiative at Carnegie Hall in New York.

The first edition of the Hear the World magazine is published in English and German and is distributed via hearing health professionals. It is also available at select news stands, in business hotels and at airports internationally. The magazine will be published on a quarterly basis and costs $8 per issue.

A free copy of the first issue of the Hear the World magazine can be obtained by visiting http://www.hear-the-world.com.
