HLAA Convention Exhibits - Part 11

Editor: One of the great things about the hearing loss conventions is the exhibit floor, where attendees can see all the latest and greatest devices from the scores of vendors. Cheryl and Bonnie did their usual outstanding job of recording what's available.

Sonic Alert
By Cheryl Heppner, 8/20/10

Eddie Brink, Sonic Alert's Product Brand Manager, told me about some of the growing line of products now available from Geemarc Telecom S.A. These include:

- Four amplified telephones, including one targeted for those who want the security of emergency response and one with extra loud amplification that goes up to 67 dB.

- A telephone ring signaler with an extra bright flashing strobe light, tone controls, and volume that can be adjusted as high as 95dB.

- The Ampliphoto50, an amplified phone which allows insertion of up to 10 photos so you dial up to 10 pre-programmed phone numbers with one touch.

- The AmpliVOICE50 which has features that are helpful to individuals who are both hearing and vision impaired.

- The iLoop, a hands-free neck loop for MP3 players, and the TLoop, a hands-free neck loop for cell and other phones.

- The CL Bluehook which is compatible with Bluetooth-enabled devices.

- The Loophear LH100 portable unit for communication with hearing aid and cochlear implant users with t-coils and induction receivers.

- The CLA9 and CLA9T handheld listening devices, which give choices for amplication with or without t-coils.

Dry & Store
By Cheryl Heppner, 8/20/10

I always count on Katy Pindzola at the Dry & Store exhibit for scoops about what's new with the Dry & Store. Each year it seems there are tweaks to improve it. Pop your hearing aid, cochlear implant processor or other technology like a noise masker into the Dry & Store at night and it removes moisture, dries ear wax, kills germs and deodorizes them.

This year Dry & Store's Global II model was introduced. It is lighter in weight than the old model, made for increased longevity and has a more modern design. Among the Global's features are automatic shut off after eight hours, a shorter germicidal cycle that takes only 90 seconds, and improved reliability. The Dri-Brik II dessicant that is placed inside the Global draws in the moisture being released with coaxing from a quiet fan circulating warm, dry air.

This new Dry & Store model is also a great size for travel at a little over two pounds and size of 7.2" x 4.9" x 3.3". Katy said it can also be used with other equipment such as iPods.

The Dry & Store button below, created years ago after a request from consumers, continues to be popular, and the company will send one free if you live within the U.S. Just click at the image of the button on their website at www.dryandstore.com.
