Dr. Mitchel Turbin of the Portland, Oregon Veterans Administration
Medical Center's National Center for Rehabilitation and Auditory Research
has some great resources on the center's website about resources available
for individuals with hearing loss:
- "The Living Well with Hearing Loss Workshop" by Dr. Turbin with the
complete PowerPoint curriculum for a two-hour multimedia informational
support group session he developed with a national team of experts -
including NVRC favorite Dr. Sam Trychin!
- "Facing the Challenge: A Survivor's Manual for Hard of Hearing
People" developed by the Hearing Loss Association of Oregon.
- A two-page fact sheet on "How We Hear"
- A three-page fact sheet answering frequently asked questions about
getting a hearing aid from the VA
- A 30-page document with all kinds of information about hearing aids
from the Department of Veterans Association such as loans, adjusting to
the hearing aid, batteries, telephone use, care, repairs, troubleshooting
and much more.
- Information about medications and hearing loss.
